Helen Irene Holbrook Bays Thomas CASTLEWOOD, VA. Helen Irene Holbrook Bays Thomas, 76, lost her battle with cancer, Sunday, July 24, 2011, at her home. She was born at Bull Run, VA, daughter of the late Samuel Patton Holbrook and Pearley Hamilton Holbrook . She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas Floyd Holbrook and Sarah Catherine Holbrook , husbands, Chester Glenn Bays, Sr. , who died at the age of 30 from a heart attack, and Charles Eugene Thomas, who she married on November 12, 1965 and divorced in 1970; seven brothers, Gothard Holbrook, Samuel Franklin Holbrook , Albert Bruce Holbrook , Clifford Eugene Holbrook , Homer Gilbert Holbrook , Edward Paul Holbrook , and Chester Wayne Holbrook, Sr. and three sisters, Beulah E. Holbrook Dean , Gladys LouEmma Holbrook Kirk , and Learley Medford "Little Sis" Holbrook. She was the co-author of the book Holbrooks on the Clinch. She is survived by her three sons, Chester Glenn Bays Jr. and wife, Connie, of Lexington, KY; twin sons - William Kevin Thomas of Richmond, VA, and Patrick Keith Thomas and wife, Brenda, of Pulaski, VA; one brother, Howard "Bud" Holbrook and wife, Hazel of Knoxville, TN; a very special friend and companion, Ancil Cook; five grandchildren, Jamie Boggs and wife, Stephanie, John Means, Adrienne Williams and husband, Trey, Jamie Caldararo and husband, Vincent, and Megan Bays; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
