Bio

Virginia C. Jaska, 69, of West died Saturday, Apr. 24, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Apr. 26 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. Mrs. Jaska was born Virginia Clara Muehlstein on Sept. 23, 1929 in Stamford, Texas and moved to Hill County, Texas in 1939. She was a 1947 graduate of Hillsboro High School. She attended Hill Junior College and was a 1951 graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. She and Ernest H. "Bobo" Jaska were married Dec. 26, 1951 in Abbott, Texas. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West and the church PTC Choir, Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829 and the West Blue Bell Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and art. She was a beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother and former teacher. Her eight children were her masterpieces. She earned the honor with Bobo, of Aggie Parents of the Year from Texas A&M in 1981. Mrs. Jaska is survived by her husband, Ernest H. Jaska of West; five sons, Michael E. Jaska, his wife Linda and their children Tommy and K.D. of College Station; Mark J. Jaska, his wife Lucy and daughter Kathryn of Modesto, CA; Matthew G. Jaska, his wife Gretchen and children Pamela, Paul, Michael, and Robert of Houston; Christopher S. Jaska, his wife Lisa and daughters Stephenie, Hilary, and Emily of Hewitt; David C. Jaska, his wife Carolyn and children Kelsey, John, Kayley, Jake, and Jack of Fort Worth; three daughters, Rebecca A. Crowley, her husband David and daughters Heather, Christy, and Kimberly of McKinney; Bridget D. Krahula, her husband Jim and daughters Angela and Kacey of Pflugerville; and Alexandra M. Wetterman, her husband William G., Jr. and sons Trey and Christopher of McKinney; her father, Edward J. Muehlstein, Sr. of Hillsboro; a brother, Edward J. Muehlstein, Jr., and his wife Virginia of Fort Worth, two sisters, Irene Gerik and her husband Jerry Sr. of Aquilla; and Patricia Zapletal and her husband Raymond of Ennis.
