CORONARY CLAIMS LIFE OF FLOYD DOWDING THURSDAY SEWARD A familiar face will be missed at the City Hall. No longer will visitors there be greeted with a cheery word or a joke from Floyd Dowding, who seemed to be a permanent fixture at the City Hall during the short time that this writer has been going there for news. Floyd Dowding passed away during the night last Thursday, November 15, after suffering a heart attack. Born August 17, 1892 in Seward, he was a lifelong resident of the community. He retired from the Post Office in 1949 after serving 32 years as a city mail carrier. Since his retirement, he has served as Justice of the Peace and Seward City Magistrate. He was a member of the Seward Fire Department and was one of the organizers of the Rescue Squad. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church He is survived by his wife, Agnes, three sons, Bob, Seward, Don, Yukon, Oklahoma, and Dick, Scottsbluff, two daughters, Mrs. Russell Struthers, Seward, and Mrs. John Tomandl, Auburn, New York, fourteen grandchildren and one brother, William A. Dowding, Seward. Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Vincent's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with burial in the North Cemetery.
