When a lad of a about twelve years, he came with his parents to America where the family settled at Buda, Ill. He was united in marriage to Emma S. (Nellie) Newton of Milford, Nebr., and Will and Floyd Dowding of Seward. He came to Seward in 1887 and was a resident here for many years, being engaged in the jewelry and watch repair business. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and was a prominent member of the organization. For the past seven years he has been a resident of the Odd Fellows Home at York, Nebr. Besides his children, he is survived by two brothers, Howell Dowding of Sedalia, Mo. and Charles Dowding of Buda, Ill.
