Bio
JAN BRAVENEC was born on November 14, 1861 in Ublo #58, Moravia and came to Galveston on April 4, 1899 on the M. Rickmeers. He was the son of Pavel & Terezie Kovář Bravenec. Mary Mucha was born on April 29, 1870 in Leskovec #7, Moravia. They were married in Ublo around 1893 and she came to Galveston on April 19, 1900 on the Halle with her stepson, Jan Bravenec, Jr., and sons, Anton and Josef. They farmed in the Bell County area east of Temple, Texas (Zacbikville, Ratibor) until 1910 when they purchased 126 acres in Milam County near the San Gabriel/Thorndale, Texas area. Jan died in November 1912 and is buried in the Thorndale Cemetery. Mary moved back to Bell County and in 1914, she purchased a 109 acre farm near Oscar, TX. She married Frank Kocich (1861-1929) in 1915. Mary died on Oct. 7, 1966 and is buried in the Seaton Cemetery.
