Greenville (Texas) Morning Herald, Tuesday, 11 Sep 1945, page 5, Nye Eldridge Fatally Injured Nye Eldridge, 45, former Greenville barber was fatally injured about 9 o'clock Sunday morning when thrown from a horse and died about 6 o'clock Sunday evening at a local hospital. The accident was said to have occurred while Mr. Eldridge was riding on a farm about 10 miles northwest of Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at Tidwell, conducted by the Rev. W. O. Majors, pastor of Lamar Baptist Church, with burial in the Tidwell cemetery. The body will remain at the Stringer Elliott Funeral Home until the hour of the service. Mr. Eldridge was born on March 16, 1900 in Hunt County, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Eldridge. He was discharged from the Army about a year ago after having served some eighteen months. He was a member of the Methodist church, having professed faith in Christianity in early life. He is survived by seven brothers, D. E. Eldridge, Corpus Christi; Will Eldridge, Wolfe City; Brice Eldridge, Lone Oak; Jess Eldridge, Greenville; Wylie Eldridge, Corpus Christi; Charley Eldridge and Raymond Eldridge, Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. J. W. Bullock and Mrs. Clem Parish, Greenville; and Mrs. Elmer Lilly, Carlsband (sic), N. M.; one daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Cook of Memphis, Texas and other relatives.
