Jennie C. Kubicek, daughter of John and Anna (Kral) Hromadka, was born May 24, 1888 on a farm three miles north of Milligan. She passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital at Geneva, Neb., February 27, 1966, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 3 days. She attended school at District 6, three miles north of Milligan ans did all of her six children. November 27, 1906, she was united in marriage to Mike Kubicek. They moved on to the Kubicek homestead two and one-half miles north and one and one-half miles west of Milligan. To this union were born six children, five sons and one daughter. They are William and Arthur of Crete, Ralph of Waco, Mike and Ed of Milligan and Mrs. Elvin (Goldie) Hoffman of Friend. In later years, with her late husband and the family, she moved to her girlhood home and continued to live there until the untimely death of her husband, September 17, 1938. She moved to her home in Milligan in 1941 and resided there until December 12, 1964, when she moved to the Fairmont Rest Home. Mrs. Kubicek suffered a severe stroke February 4, 1966, and passed away three weeks later. Her pride and joy was taking care of he yard, which was well known throughout the community for its beautiful flowers and shrubbery. Her floral bouquets furnished much beauty for different activities in town. She belonged to ZCBJ lodge No. 420 of Milligan and received a 50-year membership pin in January, 1960. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary of Milligan. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two brothers, Dr. August Hromadka of Santa Monica, Cal., and Frank Hromadka of Milligan; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Zerzan of Holyrood, Kas., and Mrs. Pauline Bures of Fairmont. Those remaining to mourn her departure are five sons and one daughter, five daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. May Capek of Milligan and Mrs. Rose Votipka of Lincoln, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at the Milligan auditorium, with Rev. Ray Hankins officiating. Mrs. Joe Capek, Mrs. Leslie Skrivanck and Mrs. Fred Stych, accompanied by Mrs. Albert Naimon, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "In the Garden." Interment was in the family plot in the Bohemian National Cemetery south of Milligan, under a beautiful blanket of flowers. The Nebraska Signal March 10th, 1966 page 5. Contributor: M.
