Shelbyville Republican, Thursday March 9, 1911, page 4, column 1 JOHN WILLIAMS PASSED AWAY John Williams , one of the most prominent of the aged residents of Brandywine Township, died at his home, four miles northwest of this city, at 1:30 o'clock this morning, following an illness that has kept him confined to his bed the greater part of the winter. Deceased was eighty-seven years, eleven months and twenty-five days old. He had resided in the house in which he died fifty-eight years. The couple reared a large family and are survived by six children and numerous grandchildren. All of the children reside near the old home place with the exception of a son, Melvin , whose home is at Greenfield. The others are Mrs. Susan Bass, Apolis, Albert and Gilbert Williams and Mrs. Emma Hughes . Mr. Williams was a member of the Brandywine M.E. church. The funeral services will be held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon in the M. E. church at Pinhook (Brandywine), Rev. Paul Edwards in charge. Ralph J. Edwards will have charge of the funeral services. In politics Mr. Williams was a staunch Republican and in his death the county loses one of its best citizens and this paper one of its most ardent admirers.
