U.S. Soldier ∼ Death of George Williams George Williams, an old timer around town, died at the hospital Thursday and was buried Friday afternoon in the G. A. R. plot in the cemetery, many of the old veterans turning out to attend the funeral. While working in McFaul's tie camp at Hardy Creek, he fell a distance of about eight feet, hitting on his back. After the accident he was taken to camp, where he remained until Tuesday of last week when he was brought to the hospital here. His injuries were of a serious nature, and being well advanced in years, he gradually failed, dying Thursday evening. Some years ago he was proprietor of the White House Hotel. Later he engaged in making ties and cord wood on the other side of Pudding Creek, and finally went up to Hardy Creek to work, where he met with the accident which caused his death.
