Bio

William Rozanek, one of nine children of John and Magdalena Volak Rozanek, was born January 27, 1895, near Osmond, Nebraska in Pierce county. He passed away Tuesday, December 27, 1977, at the Jefferson County hospital in Fairbury at the age of 82 years and 11 months. On November 23, 1920, he was married to Agnes Anton and to this union were born two children, Leo and Angeline. He attended country school near Geneva, District 3 and District 5 near Exeter. His father was killed January 9, 1906, near Geneva with a run-away team. Then in March 1906, his mother with the family moved to a farm southeast of Exeter, this being his home until September 1976, when he and his wife moved to Western. When he got out of school, he worked for his brother Frank in Milligan in the harness shop for several winters. Bill as he was called, was a family man and his main interest was farming, tilling the soil and watching the crops grow. He also had a threshing machine and had done threshing in the neighborhood for several years, along with farming. Those that preceded him in death were his parents, five brothers, three sisters, and son Leo and daughter-in-law, whom he missed very much. He is survived by his wife Agnes; daughter Angeline Brydl, son-in-law, Jim Brydl, and six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son, Kotas Chapel, Milligan at 2 p.m., Friday, December 30, 1977, with Rev. Ernest H. Horner officiating. Robert Kassik, accompanied by Mrs. Albert Naimon, sang "Beautiful Ilse of Somewhere" in Czech and "God Be With You." Pallbearers were Norman Anton, Ronald Jindra, Eugene Bartu, Rene Rozanek, Lawrence Jensen and Joey Wagner. Interment was in the Bohemian National cemetery near Milligan.
