Bio

Lillian Odvody, daughter of John and Magdelina Rozanek, was born 10 miles southeast of Friend September 23, 1900. She passed away at Bryan Memorial hospital at Lincoln, Thursday March 5, 1964, at the age of 63 years, 5 months, 12 days. Mrs. Odvody attended rural school in Fillmore County. November 25, 1919, she was united in marriage to John Odvody at Geneva, Nebraska. To this union were born two children. They moved to a farm southeast of Friend, where she lived all of her married life. Mrs. Odvody was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother, always thinking of others before herself. She was an ardent lover of flowers and also took great pride in taking pictures of which she had several hundred. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, John, one son, Lester, one daughter Gladys (Mrs. Otto Jindra), also one grandson, Ronald Jindra, all of Friend; two brothers, William and James Rozanek, both of Exeter, several nieces and nephew and many friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Frank and Joe Rozanek and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ahl and Mrs. Emma Volak. Funeral services were conducted from the Milligan auditorium Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Alden B. Sears of Geneva officiating. Mrs. Albert Kassik Jr. and Mrs. Leslie Skrivanek sang "God Will Take Care of You" in Czech and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Albert Naimon. A large number of relatives and friends were present and accompanied the body to the Bohemian National cemetery, where she was laid to rest beneath a very beautiful blanket of floral tributes. Pallbearers were Jim Brydl, Norman Odvody, Robert Vasatka, Ervin Odvody, Ed Rozanek and Emil Odvody Jr. The Nebraska Signal, (Geneva, Nebraska) Thursday, March 12, 1964, Page 5.
