Funeral services for Mrs. Joan Marie Chevalier, 84, of Gilmer will be held 10:00 A. M. Friday, July 25, 2014, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gilmer. Interment will follow at West Mountain Cemetery in Upshur County under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mrs. Chevalier passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in Gilmer. She was born on August 19, 1929, in Upshur County to Coleman Laviga and Ela Nora White Starkey. Mrs. Chevalier was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gilmer. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Janis Johnson of Gilmer, Gerald G. and Karen Johnson of Mansfield, TX.; daughter, Thomesa Ann Adkins of Gilmer; grandchildren, Paulette Henson, Melanie Waloszyn, Taryn Sallee, Garrett Adkins, Jessica Biggs, Jarrod Johnson; numerous great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren. Mrs. Chevalier was preceded in death by her parents, Coleman and Nora Starkey; husband Olan B. Chevalier; siblings, Ruby Lynn Owens, Myrtle Mae McNutt, Glynn Coleman Starkey, Vera Doris Starkey and Thurman Ray Starkey The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
