Bio

Helen Ann Dvoracek married Albert Cecil Gross in Houston on February 19, 1955. GROSS, HELEN DVORACEK Born July 28, 1924 in West, Texas, passed away March 8, 2008 in Dallas, Texas. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Helen taught and coached in the Houston ISD for 39 years, most of the time at Hamilton JH. She also managed the pool area at Champions Golf Club for 40 years with her husband, Albert "Ace" Gross. Helen was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church for 50 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Ottilie Dvoracek, siblings, and husband of 44 years, Ace Gross. Helen is survived by her children Allison Gross Garrett, Diane Gross Picone, Beverly Gross Renkes & husband Dean, Al Gross, Jr. & wife Autumn Brown; grandchildren, Aubree Garrett Lambright, BJ Garrett, Nick Picone, Melissa Picone, Bobby Renkes, Kevin Renkes, Scott Renkes, Jake Gross, Parker Gross, Caitie Gross; and great grandchildren, Avery Lambright, Aiden Picone. She is also survived by her sisters Lil Dvoracek , Martha Dvoracek and brother Frank Dvoracek. Friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, March 13 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Dr., Houston, Texas. Because of Helen's love of teaching and coaching, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the athletic or academic booster club at the school of your choice .
