Mary (Miss D) Dvoracek, age 80, of West, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001 in Waco. A rosary was recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Miss Dvoracek was born March 3, 1921 in West, the daughter of Charles and Otillie Dvoracek. She was raised and attended schools in West before graduating from West High School in 1937. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Journalism and a Master's Degree in English from the University of Texas. She was a journalism and Jr. English teacher at West High School for over 40 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 where she was Directress and past National Regent. She also held various offices in Jr. Catholic Daughters of America, member of KJZT Society #11, Czech Heritage Society and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Albin Dvoracek and Edward Dvoracek and one sister, Terry Stone. She is survived by three brothers, Charles Dvoracek and his wife Laura of Rockwall, Frank Dvoracek and his wife Sabina of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Herman (Joe) Dvoracek and his wife Sarah of New Orleans, Louisiana; three sisters, Lilyan Dvoracek of West, Martha Dvoracek of San Angelo and Helen Gross of Houston, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Steve Fitzpatrick, Al Dvoracek, Al Gross, Ed Dvoracek, John Dvoracek and Joey Shebesta. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
