Daughter of James Henry & Mary Elizabeth (Stogsdill) Johnson. Wife of Carl Klitzing, married Dec. 23, 1923. Mother to known children: Joseph, Mary Emma, Sara Christine. The Alliance Times-Herald, Alliance, NE, Tue, 14 Mar 1989, pg. 12 Josie J Klitzing, 88 Summary Oshkosh – Services for Josie J Klitzing will be Wednesday, 15 Mar in Holechek Funeral Home at Oshkosh, burial in Kowanda Cemetery near Oshkosh. Josie Jane was born 14 Jul 1900 in Alton, MO to James H and Mary (Stogstill) Johnson. She received basic education at Springfield, MO. On 24 Dec 1923 she married Carl F. Klitzing at Oshkosh. She received her master's degree from the University of Nebraska in 1950 and served as principal at the Sioux Ordnance Depot at Sidney for 13 years and as principal at Ashby for 5 years. She also had ranching interest in the Sandhills and near Alliance. Forced to retire in 1965 after receiving burns in a house fire, she maintained her ranching interest until 1977. She moved to a Scottsbluff nursing home in 1981 and died 12 Mar 1989 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Gering. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Didier of Scottsbluff; sister, Palos Brennan of Ellsworth; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
