Graveside services for Margaret Marie West, 79, of Gun Barrel City, were held June 14, 2011, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home in Kaufman. West was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Maud to Bertha Mathis and Joseph Earl Carter and died June 11, 2011, at her home in Gun Barrel City. She moved to the Dallas area when she was 16. In 1976, West came to reside in the Cedar Creek Lake area. She was a member of Souls Harbor in Oak Cliff. Survivors include son Charles Wayne Savage, Dallas; daughters Linda Elaine Ferrell, Mead, Okla.; Gretta Anderson, Seagoville; Leslie Lorraine Clee, Georgia; Laura Marie Aderholt, Seagoville; Teresa West Buckmeyer, Gun Barrel City; brother Joseph Carter, Dallas; sisters Margie Goolsby, Arkansas; Joy Slovak, McKinney; Betty Johnson, Dallas; many other relatives and friends.
