James Alex Burk [known as Alex] was born 7 June 1902 in Ellis County, Texas. He was 5th of the 6 children born to William Marion Burk (1870-1941) and Florence Fredonia Maxey Burk (1868-1952). Siblings: William Arthur Burk (1892-1913), Artie Lee Burk [Childers] (1893-1933), Etta Henrietta Burk [Spurgeon] (1896-1963), Walter Jackson Burk (1899-1905) and Lillie Clifton Burk [Endler] (1907-1994). He was married to Iris Jewell Clemmons Burk (1898-1970) on 2 November 1924 in Waxahachie, Ellis, Texas. They were the parents of Melba Ruth Burk (1929) [Kress]. Alex passed away 13 December 1965 in Bristol, Ellis, Texas and was buried in the Bristol Cemetery.
