James Chollar, 76, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at his home. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 11, 10:30 A.M. at the Highland Park Evangelical Free Church with Rev. William Menke and Rev. Justin Erickson officiating. Interment will be the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Memorials may be directed to the family James Arnold Chollar, Sr. was born March 19, 1935, in Columbus, Nebraska, to George and Cecelia (Kuta) Chollar. Jim attended St. Anthony's School in Columbus. On July 27, 1954, James was united in marriage to Mary Lange in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Jim worked for the State of Nebraska for a few years before going to work at Behlen Manufacturing where he worked for over 30 years. Jim was a member of Highland Park Church where he was very active and taught Awana and Turning Point Classes. He was a supporter of the Columbus Rescue Mission. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and all outdoor activities, and his hobby farm, and he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family. James is survived by: Wife: Mary Chollar of Columbus, NE Son: Jim Jr. (Alta) Chollar of Columbus, NE Grandchildren: Tracy Croghan and Tanya Free Great Grandchildren: Michael Remmers, Amber Chollar, and Bryce Free Great Great Grandson: Carter James Ziemba Daughter: Donna (Gene) Steffen of Hartington, NE Daughter: Deb (Steve) Prester of Lincoln, NE Grandchildren: Clayton Ridenour, Holly Breucop, Clinton Prester, and Mitch Prester Great Grandchildren: Gage Prester and Kihana Breucop Son: Delbert Chollar of Columbus, NE Grandchildren: Andy Christensen and Cody Chollar Daughter: Janine (Michael) Korgie of Overland Park, KS Grandchildren: Nicole Rooney, John Korgie, James Korgie, and Matthew Korgie Great Grandson: Jameson Rooney Sisters: Betty Wangler Laura Lambert Delores James Brothers: Richard Chollar Charles Chollar James was preceded in death by: Parents: George and Cecelia Chollar Brother: Anthony Chollar Sister: Donna Chollar
