Daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Fowler and Mary A. Mills. Second wife of Virgil Cassel. Stepmother to three and mother of six children. MRS. CASSEL - PORT LAVACA - Funeral services for Mrs. Vanner Cassel of Port Lavaca, who died Tuesday at the local nursing home, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ here with John Glover, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Victoria under the directions of Richardson Funeral Home. Her grandsons will be pallbearers. Mrs. Cassel was born June 30, 1884, in Wood County, Tex., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fowler. She had lived in Calhoun County since 1929. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include three sons, O. B. Cassel of Green Lake, Bryce Cassel of Tuscon [sic], Ariz., and V. C. Cassel of Blue Springs, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. J. P. Nunley of Seadrift, and Mrs. Irene Wilds of Corpus Christi; two step-daughters, Mrs. Joe Johnson of Gladewater, and Mrs. Opal Dickey of Enid, Okla.; and several grandchildren.
