Bio

Irene C. Wilds, youngest daughter of Virgil and Vanner (Fowler) Cassel, left her earthly body behind on November 15, 2015 in Corpus Christi, TX. Irene was born on September 15, 1919 in Winnsboro, TX. She spent the first decade of her life in Wood County before her family relocated to Calhoun County, where she graduated from Port Lavaca High School in 1938. Two years later, she enrolled in Draughons Business College in Corpus Christi, the city she called home for the next seventy-five years. She lived in her own house until a few days before her 96th birthday and could often be seen sweeping her front sidewalk and curb. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Wilds; her parents; four sisters; and four brothers. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
