Bio

MATTOON - Runell Shumbarger, 83, of Mattoon, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 27 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Schilling Funeral Home 1301 Charleston Ave., Mattoon. Funeral services honoring her life will begin on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Brother Dennis Mcpheren officiating. Burial will follow in the Dodge Grove Cemetery. Runell was born on November 22, 1926 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky the daughter of Virgil and Eula (England) Woods. She married Elmer Earl Shumbarger on August 24, 1945. Survivors include her eight children, Thomas Shumbarger and wife Betty of Logansport, Indiana, Janice Harding of Mattoon, Larry Shumbarger of Tuscola, Gary Shumbarger and wife Cindy of Mattoon, Sherry Roderick of Mattoon, Shawna Willison of Mattoon, Lisa Shadwell and husband Junior of Mattoon and James Shumbarger of Mattoon; her brother, Clyde Woods and wife Imogene of Missouri; her sister, Geneva Kearns of Tuscola. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shumbarger was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Dale and Jerry Shumbarger, one grandchild and three great grandchildren. Runell enjoyed collecting angels,
