Bio

Military History - Korean War - Army Clyde Woods, 87, of rural Clark passed from this life into the arms of Jesus his Savior, on Saturday, July 1, 2017, shortly after admission to the hospice suite at Valley View Nursing Home in Moberly. He was surrounded by his family as they prayed and sang hymns of praise to the lord. Clyde was born in Gamaliel, Kentucky, to his parents Virgil and Eula Woods on October 13, 1929. He married to Lenora Imogene Eaton on May 7, 1954 in Decatur, Illinois. They moved to rural Clark, Missouri in December of 1954 and bought a 200-acre farm which they always called "the old place". He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings who died in infancy; five brothers, Princeton, Earnest, Paul, Clemons and Keith; four sisters, Gertrude Downing, Geneva Kearns, Sally England and Runell Shumbarger; and one infant grandson, Caleb Piquard. Clyde served his country in the US Army from 1951-1953, while stationed in Japan. A farmer was what he wanted to be, raising cattle and hogs and milking. He also worked for the Clark Road District, drove a school bus, maintained buses for the Columbia Public Schools and retired from Boone Electric Coop in 1994 after working as a mechanic and meter-reader for nineteen years. He was a charter member of the United Pentecostal Church in Moberly since 1964. He loved reading, gardening, riding his 4 wheeler and visiting with his loving family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services celebrating Clyde's life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Internment will follow at the Higbee City Cemetery with presentation of full military honors. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8,2017, at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Clyde's honor are appreciated to the Apostolic Pentecostal Church Memorial Garden fund, 2197 Six Mile Lane, Moberly, Mo. 65270.
