NANCY ELLEN DERRICK WAS THE DAUGHTER OF ANDREW JACKSON AND JULIA ANN WININGER DERRICK SR. SHE MARRIED THOMAS ORVILLE BARRETT ON 8 JAN 1880 IN HAWKINS COUNTY, TENNESSEE. GOD BLESSED THIS MARRIED WITH FIVE CHILDREN: WALTER CARSON, ELIZABETH MAUDE, ROY NELSON, ANDREW JACKSON AND ONZIE RALPH BARRETT. NANCY ELLEN DERRICK WAS THE SIBLING OF PETER WINEGAR, MARVEL M, MARY, PHILLIP, DAVID, ENOCH, PHOEBE, CORNELIUS ARTHUR, JOHN W, ABRAHAM H, ANDREW JACKSON, JULIA ANNE AND MYRTLE PAMELA DERRICK. OBITUARY (PROVIDED SHELLI STEEDMAN 13 JAN 2013): Mrs. Tom Barrett died at her home at Robinson, Monday morning at 1 o'clock, after a 3 week illness. Mrs. Barrett was 63 years old, is survived by 4 sons and one daughter, 6 brothers, 4 sisters. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery. Hiawatha Daily World 14 AUG 1923 ***************** Nancy Derrick was born near Rogersville, Tennessee, September 16, 1859; died at her home near Robinson, Kansas, August 13, 1923, after an illness of 3 weeks duration, age 63 years, 10 months, 27 days. She was converted early in life and united with the Midway Dunkard Church near Surgoinsville, Tennessee. Later she united with the Shiloh Methodist Church (South) of Surgoinsville of which she was a member at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Thomas O. Barrett of Rogersville, Tennessee, January 8, 1880. To this union were born 5 children, all living--Walter and Andrew of Ellensburg, Washington, Mrs. J. B. Culbertson of Surgoinsville, Tennessee; Roy and Onzie of the home, who with the bereaved husband, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, 19 grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends mourn her departure. Her father, mother, 3 brothers have preceded her to the heavenly home. Mrs. Barrett lived in the neighborhood in which she was born until March, 1917 when she with her husband and youngest son, Onzie, came to Brown County, Kansas, where they have since resided. Mrs. Barrett made many friends. To know her was to love her. A true wife and dear companion, a devoted Christian mother, a kind neighbor has been taken from us. She will be missed by all. Her children rise up and call her blessed. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday, August 14 at 2 p.m. Rev. E. T. Rice of the First Methodist Church of Hiawatha "Abide with Me" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." The pallbearers were nephews of the deceased. Burial was made in Mount Hope Cemetery at Hiawatha, Kansas. Those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were Mrs. J. B. Culbertson, Surgoinsville, Tennessee; Mrs. Betty Hensley, Surgoinsville, Tennessee; Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Derrick of Abilene; Mr. and Mrs. T O.
