Father: Robert Henry GOODNIGHT b. 3 DEC 1846 in Clinton, Van Buren County, Arkansas Mother: Mary Mariah MOORE b. 27 NOV 1861 in Woodland, Randolph County, Alabama __________________ HOLLAND – Funeral for Owen L. Goodnight, 75, of Holland, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the first Methodist Church in Holland, the Rev. Jack Hopkins officiating. Burial will be at Holland Cemetery. Mr. Goodnight died about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday in a Bartlett nursing home after a long illness. Mr. Goodnight was born near Holland April 3, 1892, and had lived near Holland all his life. He was a farmer until his retirement about 10 years ago. He was a member of the first Methodist Church of Holland. Surviving are his four daughters, Mrs. David Walker of High Point, N.C., Mrs. Roy Ragsdale of Belton, Mrs. Hubert Nutt of Valley Mills and Mrs. Carolyn Simmons of Temple; four sons Ed Goodnight, of Bartlett and Dr. C. D. Goodnight, Melvin Goodnight and Wayne Goodnight, all of Holland; three sisters, Mrs. Eugene Fleece of Hillsboro and Mrs. Minnie Whitsett of Durant, Okla.; a brother, Charles Goodnight of Killeen; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His wife died in 1963 and a son, Owen Goodnight Jr., died in May 1967. Pallbearers will be Gus Whitlow, Glenn Latham, Bill Williams, Dell Liles, Charlie Starke, Joe Cooper, Gene Liles and Mike Carlisle. Memorials may be made to Bell County Chapter of the American Cancer Society in Temple. Goodnight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ______________________
