Obituary John C. Hooper, 74, member of one of Rutherford county's most prominent families died at his home on East Main street yesterday afternoon about 4:30 o'clock after a long illness. Mr. Hooper was a native of this county, having been born and reared here. He was for many years a traveling salesman for the Brown Shoe company, of St. Louis, and was one of the oldest salesmen on the road. He retired about two years ago and had lived in Murfreesboro since that time. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Mr. Hooper is survived by his+ wife, Mrs. Mary Hooper; five daughters: Misses Roberta, Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah Hooper, of Murfreesboro and Miss Jennie Hooper, of Memphis; five sons: Warner, Julian and William Hooper, of Murfreesboro, Howard Hooper, of Knoxville, and John Hooper, of Fayetteville; three sisters: Mrs. Walter Smith and Mrs. Frank Allen, of Murfreesboro and Mrs. Willette Burton, of Memphis; three brothers: Will Hooper, of Milton and Ed and J.D. Hooper, of Murfreesboro. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home on East Main street with the Rev. Edgar. W. Williams officiating.
