Obituary Ed W. Hooper, Former City Official, Dies Funeral services for Ed W. Hooper, 88, former city official and who died Monday night, merchant, 3:30 p.m., today at the First Presbyterian church. The Rev. Ralph Llewellyn will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Hooper died at 11:30 p.m., at his home, 524 Greenland Drive. He had been ill since suffering a cerebral hemorrhage last September. He was a former member of the Murfreesboro City council and the City School board. He operated a clothing store here for many years. He also was in the general insurance business many years. He was born at Milton Feb. 17, 1888 and would have marked his 88th birthday Friday. He was educated at the old Overall Institute at Milton. His parents were William J., and Bettie White Hooper. He was first married to Miss Daisy McKnight who died in 1907. He later married Miss Fanny Jones who survives. Mr. Hooper had been a resident of Murfreesboro 65 years. He had been a deacon in the First Presbyterian, church since 1917 and an elder since 1924. Surviving, besides his widow, are three sons, Edwin H. Hooper of California, John Hooper of Murfreesboro and Ernest Hooper of Memphis; a daughter, Mrs. M. B. Brandon of Murfreesboro; a sister, Mrs. Frank. Allen of Murfreesboro and seven grandchildren. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons of First Presbyterian. Jennings and Ayers funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
