William E. Burden(1923 - 2011) Rockport, Ind. — William Esker E Burden, "Bill", of 207 Garden Rd., Normal, Illinois, and Bartow, Florida, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Services will be held at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Indiana on Saturday, April 23, 2011. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. April 22, and one hour before services at the funeral home. The service will be at 11:00 am. Saturday morning. Burial will be at Hackleman Cemetery, Rockport, Indiana. "Bill" was born September 21, 1923 in Neafus, Kentucky, the son of Everett and Mary Daugherty Burden. He married Margie Atchison on June 3, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2005. Bill's parents and one brother also preceded him in death. "Bill" is survived by six children, Sandra, (Carl) Hall, Bartow Fla.; Bobby, (Becky) Burden, Billy, (Kathy) Burden, both of Bloomington, Il.; Charlotte, (Robert) Leggett, Normal, Il.; Jacqui Fraizer, Bartow, Fl.; and Janet, (Richard) Hall, Carlock, Il. "Bill" also had 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson; one brother, Dewey and five sisters, Thelma, Joann, Pat, Norma-Jean, and Clydean. "Bill" served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 until 1946. "Bill" worked in farming for most of his life. He also worked at the Eureka Williams Company in Bloomington, Illinois. Prior to retirement, he worked as a laborer with Labor Local 561 out of Evansville, Indiana. After retirement "Bill" and Margie traveled extensively throughout the United States, camping in many National Parks. They also visited Europe and enjoyed cruising the Caribbean on Blue Grass Cruise tours. He and Margie traveled the circuit following "Blue Grass" music throughout the Southeast.
