Bio

Chapter 10 of Sovereigns of the Sage (Desert Magazine Press, 1958) is an interview of Billy by Nell Murbarger in Scipio. He goes into detail of crossing to the U.S. from England, and early life in Scipio. In a note at the end of the chapter, Nell adds: "In the Autumn of 1956, while cutting wood and clearing his fields for winter, Billy Bradfield contracted a severe cold which led to his death on November 28, at the age of 97 years. According to his daughter, Mrs. Lemmon, his memory remained good and he talked brightly with his friends and relatives until dropping into a last peaceful sleep, about three hours before his death."
