Born 6 Feb 1821 in Newbury, Berkshire, England Died 29 Aug 1866 in Ealing, Middlesex, England Married Sarah Vockins on 25 Oct 1840 in Ealing, Middlesex, England. George was sawyer, cutting wood for a living. He was baptized into the LDS church in 1849 and served in the church for the rest of his life. One of his 11 children was scalded by hot glue and died. He and his wife wanted to go to Salt Lake City to be with the larger body of latter-day saints and to be sealed as a family, and they worked hard to save money for the trip. However, he came down with consumption (now called tuberculosis) and died before the family could make their journey. Before he died he asked his 50-year-old brother to watch over his family and told his wife, “Mother, take the children to Zion.”
