TRAVIS TURNER 1929-2011 COLORADO CITY -- Travis Turner, 82, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Matlock officiated the services. Family visitation was held Friday, April 8 at the funeral home. Travis was born January 10, 1929 in Thackerville, Oklahoma to Walter Marvin and Viola Mae Turner. Walter and Viola Mae moved the family to the Colorado City area in 1934. Travis attended school in Colorado City. He married Lucy Seay October 12, 1950 in Colorado City. Travis farmed all of his life in Mitchell County. He was a Baptist. Travis served in the United States National Guard. He loved farming and raising watermelons and cantaloupes . Survivors include his daughter, Robyn Hammond and husband, Clay of Colorado City; his son, Tony Turner and wife, Darla of Colorado City; grandchildren, Jordan Hammond, Tyler Hammond, Angela Cline, Ashley Johnson, Shelby Turner, Sebastian Turner; great-grandchild, Alexis Johnson; his brother, Wendell Turner and wife, Elna Rae of Portland; and his sister, Joy Phillips of Odessa; his sweetheart, loving friend and caregiver, Beth McDaniel. Pallbearers were Larry Johnson, Frank Martinez, Casey Casares, Ray Ritchey, Bruce Gale, and Justin Alexander. Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Marcom, Jim Baum, and Robert Sayger. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 209 S. Danville Drive, Abilene, TX 79605 or a charity of your choice.
