Bio
Grant V. Bjerke, 91, of Cheyenne died Feb. 19 in Cheyenne. He was born April 26, 1918, in Grafton, N.D., and had lived here since 1962 with prior residence in Bowdoin, Mont.; Malta, Mont., Riverton, Worland and Powell. Mr. Bjerke worked with his father in a plumbing shop following his graduation from high school in Powell in 1936. Mr. Bjerke served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1948 on the USS Belleau Wood. He had been employed by Wyoming Automotive, Industrial Automotive and Fairmont Automotive before retiring in 1988. Grant was a member of the Airport Golf Course and Cheyenne Bowling Association. He was still participating in both until the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey America Snodgrass Bjerke in October 1954; parents, Conrad and Mary Bjerke; two brothers, Lee Bjerke and William Bjerke; and sister, Avis Bjerke. © Wyoming Tribune Eagle February 22, 2010
