He was a World Warr II veteran; he worked the oil fields in Laramie, Wyoming while putting himself through college. He became an aerospace engineer and worked on the Apollo and Gemini projects. He was an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 15 years, Louise Bjerke, and Laura Bjerke of 38 years, daughter Brenda Bjerke, and step-daughter Judy (Sabrina) Sweetwater. He is survived by his family, Zena and husband John, Robbye and husband Glen, step-daughter Joanne, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, Austin, Sydnee, Hayden, and Jordan.
