Hillsboro Reporter January 15, 2001 Argen Bledsoe Argen Bledsoe, 96, of Bedford died Tuesday, January 9, at a Hurst nursing home. She was born September 20, 1904 in Malone, daughter of William Robert and Sally Bulah Pound Bruton. She had lived in Union Bluff, Peoria and Hillsboro most of her life before moving to Hurst four years ago. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church of Hillsboro and Union Bluff Home Demonstration Club. She married Robert Vernon (R.V.) Bledsoe November 27, 1924, and he preceded her in death June 19, 1978. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Ottie, D.J., Allen, Cecil and Odell; one half sister, Josie Key. Survivors include; two sons and daughters-in-law, Garland and Peggy Bledsoe of Halton City and David and Carol Bledsoe of Bedford; two brothers, Fred Bruton and Robert Bruton both of Hillsboro; two sisters, Inez Beatty and Luddie Roberson, both of Hillsboro; fove grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 12, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Luther Crawford and Rev. Al Hamilton officiating. Burial was at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to Walnut Street Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1144, Hillsboro 76645.
