From the Clarksville Star July 9, 1998 LILLY MAE DeBOWER Lilly Mae DeBower, 93 of Waverly and formerly of Allison and Waterloo, died on Monday July 6, at the Waverly Municipal Hospital from cancer. She was born on May 28, 1905 in Clara City, Minnesota, the daughter of Siebe and Steintje (Goldenstein) Weiland. She attended grade school in Clara City, Minnesota and graduated from Allison High School in 1923. Lilly then went to normal school and following her schooling worked at the Courthouse in Allison. On April 8, 1928, she was united in marriage to Lawrence DeBower at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Lilly then went to beauty school and worked as a beautician for 10 years. Lawrence died in 1935, and Lilly continued to live in Allison and went to work as a desk clerk for the Alice Hotel in Allison, retiring in 1970. In 1980, she moved to Waverly and made her home at the Waverly Homes. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Burial was in the Allison Cemetery. Kaiser - Corson Funeral Home in Waverly will be in charge of arrangements.
