Services for Annie Cornelia Holecek, 85, of Wallis were held April 24 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis with the Rev. Bernard Snock officiating. Burial followed at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Wallis. Holecek died April 22 in Eagle Lake. She was born July 26, 1913, in Wallis, Texas, the daughter of John and Magdalena Pazderny Zurek. She was raised in Wallis where she attended Guardian Angel Catholic School. Holecek was united in marriage with John F. Holecek on Oct. 10, 1933, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis. She worked 18 years at Democratic party elections and was a homemaker. She was a member of KJZT No. 22 of Wallis, Guardian Angel Catholic Church, Diocese Council of Catholic Women and served on the board for Guardian Angel Cemetery. Holecek was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, August and Frank Zurek. Survivors include her husband, a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Dorothy Holecek of College Station; a brother and sister-in-law, Julius and Lucille Zurek of Wallis; grandchildren, Karen and J.P. Westbrook, and Johanna and Mike Schneider; great-grandchildren, Casey and Cody Westbrook, and three sisters-in-law, Pearl Zurek and Ann Holecek, both of Wallis, and Marie Holecek of Houston. Pallbearers were Joe Vykukal Jr., Dennis Pustejovsky, Jerry and Jerry Allen Ondruch, Malcolm Zurek and Joe Hinze.
