Robert M. Coats, Childress, Dies CHILDRESS, Oct. 6 (Special) - Robert M. Coats, 82 years old, a resident of Childress County for over 40 years, died Tuesday morning in a Quanah hospital where he had been under medical treatment since Thursday. He was engaged in farming in the Kirkland commmunity, but had retired in 1941. Coats is survived by his wife; three sons, Homer of Childress, Otis of New Boston, and Otho of Fort Sumner, NM; two daughters, Mrs. Claude Sledge of Childress and Mrs. Joe Shuman of Corvalis, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Kirkland Church of Christ this afternoon with E.A. Sanders officiating. Pallbearers were A.B. Clements, P.J. Harp, M. Cole, J.W. Hammock, S.M. Moore, and George Howard. Burial was in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Newberry Funeral Home.
