Bio

"The Roanoke Leader" - April 21, 1915: MRS. J.R. CUMBEE DIES Mrs. J.R. Cumbee died at her home near Stroud last Thursday morning and was buried at Bethel Friday morning, in the presence of a very large gathering of sorrowing friends and relatives, the services being conducted by Dr. W.C. Bledsoe. Mrs. Cumbee's illness extending over a period of two years, during which time every possible effort was made to save her from the dread enemy,tuberculosis. But she was ready to depart and her death was a triumph of christian faith. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. W.Z. East of this place.
