Ruth Ella VanHook Pike , 86 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, July 4th, 2004 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ruth was born on May 25th, 1918 in Pulaksi County, Kentucky, daughter of the late George Monroe and Hatie Mounce VanHook Monroe. She was a Fitting Department Employee at Palm Beach in Somerset, Kentucky and a member of the High Street Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky. Ruth was survived by one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Pike; one brother, Lloyd W. VanHook; one grandson, David Pike; one granddaughter, Lisa (and Grant) Treado; one great grandchild, Elizabeth Treado; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Hatie Monroe; her husband, Brodie R. Pike, whom she married on June 15th, 1939 and who departed this life on September 15th, 1970; one son, Roger Pike; four brothers, Raymond VanHook, Vola VanHook, Nelson VanHook, and Marshal VanHook; seven sisters, Nora Hargis, Hellen VanHook, Lela Conner, Eva Byrd, Mary Foreman, Nancy Jones and Stella Schriner. Visitations were held after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6th, 2004 in the Chapel of the Morris and Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7th, 2004 at the Somerset City Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky with Brother, Joe Correll officiating.
