Mary Alice Vanhook Wynn, age 87, wife of James L. Wynn, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Born in Somerset, KY on April 2, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Mary Jane Vanhook. She married James on March 8, 1943, and supported her family during his service and captivity in World War II. Upon his release at the end of the war, they settled in Mobile, AL before relocating to Greenville, SC in 1951. While being a devoted wife and mother, she was the Secretary/Treasurer of J.L. Wynn and Company for 13 years, an Executive Secretary for Stewart Supply Company for 7 years, and Secretary/Treasurer of J.L. Wynn and Sons, Inc. for 31 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Geraci; four sons, James L. Wynn, Jr., Stephen V. Wynn, Jonathan A. Wynn and wife, Carolyn, and David A. Wynn; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens, Moonville, SC.
