Bio

Juanita M. Gillaspie 1925-2008 Juanita Mae Gillaspie, 82, of Chugwater passed away Feb. 1 in Cheyenne. Juanita was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Chugwater to Walter and Mabel Hosack McCashland. She graduated from Chugwater High School in 1943, worked in Denver and Baltimore toward the war effort during World War II before returning home to Chugwater. Upon her return to Chugwater, she married Bert R. Gillaspie on Nov. 4, 1949, and settled in the Little Bear community to farm and ranch. Juanita is survived by her daughter, Carla Lofton of Cheyenne; a son, David (Susan) Gillaspie of Shirley Basin; a granddaughter, Casey Rohner; four grandsons, Jed Lofton, John, A.J. and Cory (Tera) Gillaspie; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, in August 2007; her parents; sisters, Velma Hitt and Iva Nickeson; a brother, Leland McCashland; a grandson, Michael David Gillaspie; and a son-in-law, Wayne Lofton. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Iowa Center Cemetery with Pastor Delbert Hansen presiding. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
