TOLEDO- Gladys Esther Sebetka, age 84, of Toledo, died on April 13, 2006, in Mayflower Homes in Grinnell due to a lengthy illness. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7PM. Gladys Esther Sebetka was born on October 18, 1921, in Chelsea, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Frances Zeman Plehal. She graduated from Tama High School. On August 27, 1940, she was united in marriage to Wesley F. Sebetka at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama. They made their home south of Tama where she helped on the farm. Gladys was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the CCW. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jennifer Sebetka; one sister, Dorothy Houston Pederson; one son-in-law, Jim Kubu, and one nephew, Wayne Houston. Survivors include her husband Wesley of Toledo; four children, Wesley G. (Jeanette) Sebetka Jr. of Malcom, Judy (Bob) LaRossa of Corallis, NM, Linda (the late Jim) Kubu of Brooklyn, and Steven (Carol) Sebetka of Dysart; nine grandchildren, Lynette Lindholm, Wesley J. Sebetka III, John Sebetka, Mario LaRossa, Crystal DeNeve, Sharry Mertens, Jennifer Teslow, Andy Sebetka, and Dan Sebetka; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Clyde Houston. A memorial fund has been established.
