Bio

Augustus "Bo" Hodges was the first child of James L. Hodges, Jr. and Mariah L. "Marie" Riddle. He was born on 8 April 1839 in Lake Charles, Old Imperial Calcasieu Parish, LA. He met and later married Alzineth Elizabeth Insall on 25 January 1855 when he was 15 years, 9 months, and 17 days. They remained in this locality for several years. Alzenith and Bo moved to Sabine Parish and then on to Cameron Parish, where they resided for nearly six years. When the War Between the States broke out, Bo was called to duty. Alzenith took the three children and moved to the home of her husband's parents. After the war, Bo returned to Lake Charles where the family lived until 1868. From there they moved to Gonzales Co, TX. After spending nine years there, they moved to Old Imperial Calcasieu Parish (now in Beauregard Parish), where they remained until the death of Bo on 26 March 1922. They were married 67 years and two months. Bo and Alzenith were the parents of ten children, three of whom are unknown: Virginia Alice Hodges b. 3 Oct 1855, James Sylvester Hodges b. 8 Aug 1857, William Henry Hodges b. 20 Nov 1860, Marie Elizabeth Hodges b. 13 May 1864, Caroline Isabel Hodges b. 19 Feb 1867, Alzenith Ellanora Hodges b. 21 Jul 1874, and Augustus Hodges, Jr. b. 1877.
