Alzineth Elizabeth was the daughter of Caroline Elizabeth Keller and Richard Noel Insall. She was born in Bayou Bluff, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. Her family moved to Lake Charles about 1851. She met and later married Augustus "Bo" Hodges on 25 January 1855 in Lake Charles when she was 13 years, 7 months, and 26 days. They remained in this locality for several years. Alzenith and Bo moved to Sabine Parish and then on to Cameron Parish, where they resided for nearly six years. When the War Between the States broke out, Bo was called to duty. Alzenith took the three children and moved to the home of her husband's parents. After the war, her husband returned to Lake Charles where they lived until 1868. From there they moved to Gonzales Co, Texas. After spending nine years there, they moved to Old Imperial Calcasieu Parish, where they remained until the death of Bo on 26 March 1922. They were married 67 years and two months. Alzenith then lived with her children. Bo and Alzenith were the parents of: Virginia Alice Hodges b. 3 Oct 1855, James Sylvester Hodges b. 8 Aug 1857, William Henry Hodges b. 20 Nov 1860, Marie Elizabeth Hodges b. 13 May 1864, Caroline Isabel Hodges b. 19 Feb 1867, Alzineth Ellanora Hodges b. 21 Jul 1874, and Augustus Hodges, Jr. b. 1877. Her son, Augustus, preceded her in death. She was survived by six children, 59 grandchildren, 134 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.____________________________SOURCES:1) The Richeys of Ragley by Carmel Richey Estaville 2) Autobiographical sketch by Alzenith Insall Hodges provided by Margie Burnett Hickman.
