Marvin was born to Theodore and Amelia (Schlautman) Doerneman on January 12, 1923 at Aloys. He grew up there on the farm and attended the Aloys Catholic School. Later, during the early 1970's, Marvin and several other farmers wanted to further their education. So they took classes, sponsored by Platte County, during the winter months and received their GEDs. As he was growing up, Marvin was involved in 4-H showing calves in Cuming County. And later, he became a 4-H Leader. On January 16, 1946, he was married to Viola Maass in St. Bridgets Catholic Church in Omaha. In 1947, they moved to a farm near Clarkson, Nebraska. The couple moved to Norfolk, where they both attended night classes at Northeast Tech studying real estate. Four years later, they went back to farming near Wisner until moving to Fremont. Here in Fremont Marvin repaired and sold lawn mowers. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus 3rd Degree. He was preceded in death by brothers Wilbur and Howard. Survivors: wife - Viola son - Kenneth and wife Gloria Doerneman of Uehling daughter - Judy and husband Duke Harris of Mahomet, Ill. 6 grandchildren - Tammara, Sammantha and Angela Theresa, Adam, and Sahara 2 great grandchildren brother - Reuben and wife Arlene Doerneman of Howells sister - Joyce and husband Kenny Schlickbernd of Beemer several nieces and nephews The funeral mass will be 10 AM Tuesday (March 8, 2011) at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Battiato. The committal will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ludvigsen Mortuary on Monday from 2 to 8 PM, with a Rosary at 7 PM. Visitation will also be at the church Tuesday morning for an hour before the service. Memorials are suggested to the Knights of Columbus or to the charity of the donor's choice.
