Della Stanley, lifelong resident of Douglass, Kansas, passed away in Colonial Manor Nursing Home at Douglass May 25, 1973, at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 23 days. She was the only daughter of Albert and Nancy Wakefield. Born October 2, 1883, her parents and three brothers preceeded her in death. She was married to Ira Lemuel Stanley December 23, 1904 in Winfield, KS. They lived for many years on the Stanley Homestead Farm west of Douglass. To this union was born two children, a son Walter, and a daughter, Ava (Mrs. Isaac Russell). Her husband preceded her in death February 23, 1935. Her two children, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren survive. She joined the Methodist church when a young girl, and attended as long a she was able. She was always ready to help others in any way she could, and will be greatly missed by all of her family, relatives, and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Hilyard Funeral Home in the United Methodist Church, May 27, 1973, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. B. E. Faulkner officiated. Mrs. C.A. Ogg played "The Old Rugged Cross, and "Goin Home" as organ solos. Casket Bearers were Wayne Stanley, Clifford Russell, Keith Russell, Eldon Wakefield and Joe Wakefield. Interment was in Richland Cemetery, Douglass, Kansas.
