Ardella Elizabeth James, 76, of Nampa, passed away on Jan. 22, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born Ardella Elizabeth Mattox to William and Daisy Mattox in Marsing, the sixth child of eight children. She went to grade school in Marsing, before moving to Nampa with her family. She married Roger Caldwell in 1952, to which three children were born, Vicky, Randy, and Cindy. They later moved to the Seattle, Wash., area in 1959, where she lived and worked until returning to Nampa, with her family in 1966. She worked in retail, food production and as a food product demonstrator. She married Donald James in 1976, in Nampa. To this marriage she added to her family three stepchildren, Phillip, Mike and Maia. She was a longtime member of the Christian Faith Center. She was very active in church activities, and also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a very caring person and never met a stranger, always willing to help someone in need. She is survived by her children, Vicky and Stanley Ellis of Hermiston, Ore., Randy and Carol Caldwell of Caldwell, and Cindy and Bill Dazey of Hillsboro, Ore.; three stepchildren, Phillip James of Arizona, Mike and Renee James of North Carolina and Maia and Rob Crawley of Arizona; 15 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Velma ( Doyle) Gripe of Caldwell, Luella LeMaster of Nampa, Viola (Marty) Martinez of Boise, and Linda (Carl) Hall of Caldwell, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald James; parents, William and Daisy Mattox; one brother, Wendall Mattox; two sisters, Eva Hall and Aldene Pirnie, and one grandson, Jeremiah Ellis. Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to LifeCare Center of Boise and its staff, St. Lukes Hospice, Pastor and Lovetta Buhler, and her primary caregivers, niece Rhonda Martinez and her sister Luella LeMaster, and additional family members and friends. She will be loved and missed by all. The family will greet friends and family at a viewing held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So., Nampa. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Christian Faith Center, 31 S. Midland Blvd., Nampa. Burial will be held in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa.
