Bio
J. D. Roland was killed in an pickup accident6 miles northeast of Carnegie. He was born May 28, 1923 in Konawa, OK to the late John and Elitha Roland. They moved to Caddo county in 1929. Except for three years he spent in the U.S. Air Force and two years in Bisbee, AZ, he had lived near here. While serving in World War II he received the Soldiers Medal for Valor, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct medal and the Victory Medal Tag. He married Vivian Louise McCleskey on August 20, 1948, at Cordell. He has resided and farmed in the Eakly, Fort Cobb and Carnegie communities the past 20 years. Father of Ronald Dean, Bobby Ray and Melinda Sue and foster father of Becky McCleskey. Brother to Leonard of Eakly, Henry of Carnegie; Gene of Cheyenne Wyo., Gwinn of Oklahoma City; Donald of Odessa, TX; Mrs. Vernie Moore of Eakly; Mrs. Dean Horn of Fort Cobb and Mrs. Roy Lee Hicks of Hobbs, N.M.
