George Grissom, passed away today at his home, after a long illness, of dropsy. He is survived by his wife, Dora Alice (Estes) Grissom; three sons, George Ewell, Gordon Morris (Fidella) Grissom of Edmonton, KY.and Ottis (Clara Mae); six grandchildren, Janice and Anna Mae Grissom, of Edmonton,;KY. Lizzie Bell (Kenton) Bottems, Wayne (Nora) Garmon, Russelly (Illeney) Garmon,and Jack Howard Garmon and a son-in-law William Garmon of Chandlerville IL. Five sisters also survive, Susan Jane Coghan of Illinois, Onie Grace Grissom of Louisville, KY. Mariene Smith, Tishie (David) Walbert of Park City,KY. Ellen (David) Akin Of Knob Lick, KY; Two brothers Emmery (Elmer) Grissom of Edmonton, KY, and Melvin (Florence) Grissom of Knob Lick, KY. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sarah Ellen (Coleman) Grissom, A daughter from a previous marriage, Byrda (William) Garmon,of Chandlerville, IL and his parents, Harrison and Rachel Jane (Skaggs) Grissom and a brother, William Chestene (Jack) Grissom. He was buried Sept 24 in the Grissom/Moss Cemetery located on Bill Moore Rd. off Hwy.2390. The dates on the headstone do not match his death record. According to the death record he was born on Jan 23, 1867 and passed away on Aug 31, 1941.
