William A. Wiesner was born on 19 April 1914 in Sealy, Austin County, Texas. He was the first son of William Joseph Wiesner and Emilie Sliva Wiesner. He graduated from the University of Texas, then continued his education to become a physician. In 1939, he received his doctorate from The University of Texas Medical School at Galveston. During World War II, Dr. Wiesner was stationed in the South Pacific and Japan. His distinguished service in the Army Medical Corps and the 263rd Amphibian Medical Battalion earned him the rank of lieutenant colonel and the Bronze Star. After the war's end, Dr. Wiesner completed his surgical residency in Houston and embarked on a long and successful medical career. On 20 November 1947, he married Gertrude "Trudie" Meyering. He died on 17 March 1996 in Odessa, Ector County, Texas. He was 81 years of age.
