Son of Andrew and Sarah Newton Jackson. By 1870 the family was living in Ringgold County, Iowa, where on December 24, 1884, he married Sarah Adaline "Addie" Shelden. By 1886 they were living in Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska, where their first child died and their second was born. Their 3rd and 4th children were born in Colorado in 1889 and 1891. The 1900 census finds the family living in Ft. Lupton, Weld County, Colorado. Greeley Daily Tribune June 14, 1943 (Monday) Oscar Jackson Dies Monday Oscar Jackson, 83, died at his home, 714 Fifth street Monday morning. Mr. Jackson had lived in Colorado since 1893, coming here from Illinois, where he was born April 20, 1860. He lived in Denver for a time and then moved to west of Greeley, where he farmed. He retired 20 years ago and moved into Greeley. In Denver, Mr. Jackson was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah A. Jackson, a daughter, Mrs. Dewey Winkleman of Greeley, 18 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three brothers, Ben of Greeley, Frank of Sulphur Springs, Fla., Fred of Denver, and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Phelps, Wheatland, Wyo., and Mrs. Dora Herring, Glendale, Calif. Macys will announce funeral arrangements.
